The Rising Panjab Bureau

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, in the presence of the AAP Supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, announced a number of incentives providing much- needed relief to the Ludhiana industry.

Giving sufficient time to factory owners so as to make alternative arrangements to shift their factories, CM Mann announced Ludhiana factories can now be run from residential areas for three more years.

The sops announced by the CM also include approval to building plans of industries within 72 hours besides providing power and water connections to labour dwellings.  An announcement to do major overhauling of focal points was also made by the CM.

CM Bhagwant Mann also assured industrialists that the AAP government in the state would do everything possible to positively address all pending issues to provide hospitable environment so the industry of the state could attract more investment.

Ludhiana being called industrial hub of Punjab hosts industries of multiple products including hosiery, bicycle, dyeing and printing.  The announcement has received the deserving appreciation from the business community.

Further elaborating on the plan, the CM said, “I know focal points and industrial zones are in a dilapidated condition, hampering the development of industries and that a blueprint has been prepared to facilitate them and give a facelift to the focal points and industrial zones”.  “We are committed to the growth of the industry and will do whatever is required,” he said.

Provision of facilities like power and water connections for the labour class is also sure to bring some smile to their faces.  The availability of basic civic facilities will attract quality labour to the town.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal who accompanied CM Mann, accused the previous government of indifferent attitude towards Punjab industries resulting in shifting of their bases outside Punjab in a big way.  He also accused the earlier government of seeing industrialists with suspicion and only used them.

Since the Punjab government has now walked extra miles in acceding to some of the important demands of industrialists, it is now incumbent on the factory owners being run from the residential areas to avail themselves of the opportunity and abide by the deadline of three years of shifting their base from there.  The government aims to bring the Punjab industry back on track by announcing certain relaxations and incentives.  This should not be misused.
