 We Punjabis are a very lively group of people, and this is very evident from the Punjabi film industry. Most Punjabi films produced are of the comedy genre. So, it is found that Punjab has a substantial number of good, no great comedians. The most recent and prominent example is Kapil Sharma, who has won millions of hearts across the globe for his outstanding sense of humour. They say laughter is the best medicine, and Punjabis keep this saying in mind and create a fun living atmosphere in the cinema halls.

 So here is a list of the top five Punjabi comedians who never fail to make us smile with their presence on screen. We hope to include your favourite comedian in the list!

 1.     Jaspal Singh Bhatti

 Remember the hit rib-tickling television series Flop Show, which aired on Doordarshan? All thanks to Jaspal Singh Bhatti, who put Punjab on the map of India and made millions of people laugh with his political satires. Long before Kapil Sharma, he was another Amritsari called the King of Comedy. His specialty in tackling controversial issues and handling anticorruption crusades while making the common masses aware of these practices through humorous means made give him a status like none of his contemporaries. Apart from Flop Show, he showcased his comical talent in Full tension and UltaPulta as well. Because of his immense popularity, he even acted in a bunch of Hindi films like Fanaa, HamaraDilAapkePaas Hai, Aa Ab Lautchalenand Mausam.

 2.     Meher Mittal

 Just as the Bollywood films of the Golden era of Indian Cinema were incomplete without Johnnie Walker and TunTun, Punjabi cinema was incomplete without Meher Mittal during its peak time. Referred to as the King of Punjabi comedies, Meher Mittal was a lawyer by profession but a comedian by heart. And how thankful we are that we followed his heart and passion! Audiences would wait desperately for the entry of Meher Mittal into the films. His spontaneous comedy and versatility made him not only a great comedian but also a respected thespian of the Punjabi Film Fraternity. He showcased his talent in more than 70 Punjabi films and over a dozen Bollywood films.

 3.     Gurpreet Ghuggi

 A man who needs no introduction, a man who has been acting in films since 2002, Gurpreet Ghuggi has been entertaining us with his impressive acting skills. It’s been 20 years, but Gurpreet Ghuggi is one such comedian who never fails to make us laugh loudly with his typical style of performing. He has not only made a place for himself in the Punjabi film industry but has also become a known figure to the Hindi speaking population. Acting in films like Singh is Kinng, Namaste London, Khiladi 786 has made him a recognisable comedian among the Hindi film industry. To the younger generation, Gurpreet Ghuggi Is easily the most identifiable humourist in the Punjabi entertainment industry.

 4.     B N Sharma

 Another very popular personality who has won millions of hearts with his knack of humour and wit, BN Sharma makes it to the list of the Top 10 comedians of the Punjabi showbiz. You might be surprised to know that before becoming a comedian, BN Sharma started his career as a child star. Then he went on to play a negative role in a soap called Jeb Katre. It was after that, that he started acting out various characters in the series flop show. And what better way could have been polished his skills than to be with the king of comedy, Jaspal Bhatti himself. He later collaborated with him on his other ventures like Full tension and UltaPulta. From then on, he got recognition and showcased his full potential in films like Jatt and Juliet, Carry on Jatta, ManjeBistre and so on.

 5.     Jaswinder Bhalla

This man has been well-known to the Millennials and Gen Zers, and I am pretty sure that he will be to the next generations to come. Known for adding his peculiar style of acting and adding a tint of comedy to every scene that he appears in, Jaswinder Bhalla has created a fan following of his own. Starting his career at the age of 15, Jaswinder Bhalla got selected for the all India radio and then went on to perform in comic roles in dramas and plays. His quick wit and extremely amusing taglines made him extremely popular among moviegoers. And the best part about this comedian is that he gives social messages through humour and teaches the audience valuable lessons.
